We’re excited to welcome you to Barton Creek Cave! Before you start your journey, please read these directions carefully before departing.

⚠ Important Road Safety Notice

There are two roads that lead to Barton Creek Cave, but:

Google Maps will direct you onto the WRONG road.
This route requires a high-clearance 4×4 and is not safe for most vehicles.

To ensure a smooth and safe arrival:

✅ CORRECT ROUTE: Upper Barton Creek Road

❌ WRONG ROUTE: 7 Mile El Progresso Road (DO NOT TAKE)

✅ Be prepared for an unpaved road and 2 creek crossings
✅ Do not follow Google’s “shortcut” — it is risky

What to Expect on the Drive

  • Last ~ 18 minutes of the road is unpaved
  • Two creek crossings — both are shallow and passable for most medium to high clearance vehicles
  • Mike’s Place is ~ 25 minutes in from the George Price Highway
  • Drive through the traditional Mennonite community of Barton Creek
  • Cell signal can be weak — download your map offline if possible
